AddamsFest will return to Westfield for the fifth consecutive October. During the monthlong celebration, the town will honor Charles Addams and his penchant for the macabre with a variety of events.
Born in 1912 and raised in Westfield, the cartoonist’s work was featured in The New Yorker. His most successful creation, The Addams Family, was inspired by his hometown surroundings. The characters that began as illustrations grew into a television series, a live action movie franchise, a Broadway musical, two Addams Family animated movies, and a series on Netflix.
“It’s hard to believe we are entering year five of AddamsFest, and what a ride it’s been. From N’oreasters to a global pandemic, every single year has presented unique challenges and ultimately great results,” said Councilwoman Dawn Mackey, AddamsFest chair. “The consistent magic through it all has been our volunteers, who continually rise to every occasion and use their talents and creativity to bring something special to share with the community year after year. I look forward to seeing everyone out and about as we thankfully return to a slate of traditional experiences.”
