The NFC East just got a whole lot more interesting.
The Commanders on Monday night upset the Eagles, 32-21, in Philadelphia.

So while the Eagles still lead the division, at 8-1, their advantage over the Giants is just one game.
The Giants are 7-2, the Cowboys 6-3, and the Commanders 5-5.
The Giants still have one game left against the Cowboys (in Dallas on Thanksgiving) and two left against both the Eagles and Commanders.
So what are the Giants’ chances of winning the NFC East now?
Well, entering Monday, they had just a 6% chance of winning it, according to FiveThirtyEight, and a 1.6% chance of winning it, according to ESPN.
FiveThirtyEight now puts it at 12%, while ESPN has yet to update its statistical projection model after the Eagles’ loss. The New York Times did update its projections — and it has the Giants with a 13% chance of winning the NFC East.
So the Giants clearly have work to do, with all those division games remaining.
The Giants last reached the playoffs in 2016 and last won the NFC East in 2011, which is also the last time they won a playoff game. (They won the Super Bowl that season, of course.)
The Giants won the division in 2000 and have won it just three times since — 2005, 2008, and 2011. Since winning back-to-back NFC East titles from 1989-90, the Giants have just five total division championships (also in 1997).

They’re enjoying a shocking start to this season under rookie head coach Brian Daboll. The Giants hadn’t won more than six games since they went 11-5 in 2016, which is the only time they have reached the playoffs since 2011.
