There are still a few hours away before the Eagles take on the Minnesota Vikings in their Monday night home-opener, but the Eagles have made a couple of moves ahead of the game.

The Eagles elevated wide receiver Britain Covey and tight end Noah Togiai from the practice squad. Both Covey and Togiai were elevated from the practice squad in last week’s 38-35 win over the Detroit Lions.
Covey, an undrafted free agent from the University of Utah, was the primary kick and punt returner during the preseason while also playing the slot. It will be interesting to see who will be back deep on the kickoff returns, given that Quez Watkins held those responsibilities last week. Watkins averaged 12.7 yards per kickoff return in Week 1.

Covey had two returns last week for 13 yards, one of which went for 11-yards. The Eagles bringing Covey back up gives them another sure-handed returner who will cleanly catch the ball, preventing potential fumbles and putting the offense in poor field position to begin drives.
Togiai, who dropped the only target thrown to him last week, will join Dallas Goedert and Jack Stoll in three tight end formations while also playing on special teams. Togiai’s elevation makes it appear as if the team thinks sixth-round selection Grant Calcaterra has some more work to do before he is added to the game-day roster.
Calcaterra showed the ability to get open and catch the ball when he went out on routes. However, he still needs work on his blocking, which Togiai is still ahead of him.
