Penn State punter Barney Amor was named Monday as the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance against Northwestern.
Amor, a senior from Central Bucks East and a transfer from Colgate, averaged 40.0 yards on his five punts in a 17-7 win over the Wildcats, including three kicks inside the 10-yard line and one inside the 20.
He’s averaging 44.7 yards this season on 23 punts, including 12 inside the 10 and two inside the 20. The Nittany Lions have allowed just 29 return yards on his punts. They rank 14th nationally in net punting with a 42.6 average.
Amor is the first Penn State player to receive the honor since Jordan Stout last September.
Michigan kickoff set: No. 10 Penn State’s Big Ten game Oct. 15 at No. 4 Michigan has been scheduled for a noon kickoff and a FOX national telecast.
The Nittany Lions have a bye this week before taking on the Wolverines, Minnesota (Oct. 22 at Beaver Stadium) and Ohio State (Oct. 29 at home) the following three weeks.
