Boulder crews responding to report of structure fire on Dartmouth Avenue

One person was killed in a structure fire on Dartmouth Avenue in Boulder on Wednesday afternoon.

Boulder Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Marya Washburn said the fire appears to have started in the basement of a single structure in the 2800 block of Dartmouth Avenue.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire and stop it from spreading, and Washburn said there is no threat to the public at this time.

Washburn said the initial call was that one person was inside the building at the time of the fire, and it was later confirmed that one person was declared dead on scene.

There are no other injuries reported at this time.

The name of the victim and the cause of their death will be determined by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.

Washburn said that because the fire was in the basement of the building, firefighters are proceeding cautiously and working on making sure the scene is safe before investigators can start on determining the cause of the fire.

Police have blocked Dartmouth Avenue between Colgate Avenue and Dover Drive.

This is a developing story.
