Michael Tracy McFadden to serve life in federal prison for child sex assault

A former truck driver from Colorado has been sentenced to life in a federal prison for child sex assault that also crossed state lines.

Michael Tracy McFadden, 51, of Grand Junction, was sentenced March 6 in U.S. District Court in Denver, according to a U..S. Attorney’s Office, District of Colorado, news release.

McFadden was convicted by a jury in November of crossing state lines with intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor under the age of 12, and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity, the release said.

McFadden, who worked as a long-haul truck driver, took at least two children on multiple trips out of state, prosecutors said. Over a six-year span, McFadden “repeatedly sexually assaulted the children, both in his home in Grand Junction and in his semi truck in other states,” according to the release. Two victims testified at his trial, which took five days.

In 2015, McFadden was convicted in state court of sexual assault of six children, but the conviction was overturned, in 2018, on appeal based on a speedy trial violation.
