Police are investigating a shooting in Brighton and suspects are in custody.

The shooting happened in the area of South 9th Avenue and Bush Street, police said in a 1:09 p.m. Wednesday tweet. The shooting scene is a couple of blocks north of Brighton High School.Β One victim was taken to a hospital.
Suspects are in custody in the area of East 120th Avenue and Salem Street, police said. The area where suspects were apprehended is just south of Prairie View High School, which has been placed on lockdown. Other schools in the areas were placed on secure status, police said in a subsequent tweet.
Police ask people to avoid both areas if possible.
